Outing to Anurayee Farm - August 18, 2010

Twelve senior citizens participated in the outing to Anurayee Eco Farm situated 84 Kms from Mumbai, about two and a half hours drive. The Farm has won Hirkani Award in 2005, the award for women entrepreneurs who overcome obstacles. It is a very picturesque place situated on the banks of the river Bhatsa. It was raining and all the tress and leaves were washed to a cooling green color.

We reached at about 10am and walked in the nature after breakfast. The flowers, not readily seen in Mumbai thrilled every one and digital cameras went click, click, click.

A sumptuous lunch and afternoon nap readied every one for the drive to Bhatsa dam, a picturesque site as one can see in the photos.

The great time on the way back indicated that the day was truly enjoyable and every one had one question - when is the next outing ?

Elders Talent Show - June 11, 2010

At-home Medicare Services hosted this Show on 11 June, 2010 at SNDT College Auditorium for their members - a fun show to showcase talent and remember those good old days when one was recognized for the talent- the talent which is forgotten today in the fast city life.

The seniors, as you will see from the photographs, sang 'Dohas', spoke on subjects of general interest, recited poems, sang songs and danced too. The highlight of the program was demonstration of ORIGAMI (Japanese art of paper folding without cutting) by Mr & Mrs Joshi - amazing skills - lot of photographs available with Dr Kusum Doshi, the lead doctor of At-home Medicare ( 022-26141334).

The participating Senior Citizens relaxed, rejoiced and were rejuvenated and the common feedback was 'when will we have the next such program - we can start preparing from now'. We would perhaps have cooking demonstration on what seniors love to eat and how easy it is to cook and is nutritious too!!

The senior most participant was 80 years old amongst the 30+ participants and most of them above the age of 70 !!

May be, you will find your elders photo dancing with the group or giving a talk with Dr Doshi.

At-home members enjoyed the whole day outing to this beatiful location in Thane.

It was also birthday celebration of the first member, Lalitaben Shah ( 80 years) and Dr Kusum Doshi, pillar of the initiative ( 77 years) when the family members of Lalitaben and Dr Doshi ( Kusumfoi as she is called by all her nephews, nieces, their children and all their friends too - always young and friend of all) joined in- as a surprise - and all had great time playing games and having simple but sumptuous lunch and taken care of by Varsha Shah and Bhavna, the ever smiling and hard working volunteers.

 

Nature Park at Dharavi - February 17, 2010

It was half day picnic to Nature Park at Dharavi on February 17th, 2010 . About twenty members participated; oldest being ninety years and youngest about fifty five years.
